Scott Twynholm is a Scottish composer and musician.  

With a focus on melody and sonic texture his work often spans the worlds of contemporary classical and experimental electronic composition.  

Scott started his professional music career in bands. He was an integral member of Looper with Stuart David of Belle and Sebastian and released solo records under the name Metrovavan, whose first release was single of the month in Record Collector Magazine. Recent solo work includes his piano-based album Tekstura released through London-based Blurred Recordings in 2021. 

His music has appeared in numerous films including Palme d’Or nominated The Edukators and Cameron Crow’s Vanilla Sky. Other film score credits include Alasdair Gray, A Life In Progress a documentary about acclaimed novelist and artist Alasdair Gray, multi-media artist Rachel Maclean’s 2018 feature Make Me Up and Martyn Robertson’s award winning 2022 feature Ride The Wave which has recently premiered at the BFI London Film Festival. 

Scott has also scored extensively for the stage including plays for The National Theatre, National Theatre of Scotland, Northern Stage and The Traverse. In 2019 he wrote and performed the music for the Birds Of Paradise show Purposeless Movements as part of The Edinburgh International Festival.

He was a member of Looper with Stuart David of Belle&Sebastian, formed the electro-pop band Hoboken with filmmaker Jonathan Carr and released solo records under the Metrovavan pseudonym, the first release of which picked up single of the month in Record Collector Magazine.

Music from Looper appeared in many films including Vanilla Sky and Palm D’or nominated Edukators. After an electronic pop career he returned to study classical composition and he now works
predominately in the collaborative mediums of film, dance, theatre and art. A versatile composer, his music often spans the worlds of contemporary classical and experimental pop.

Recent releases include the soundtrack to the documentary about artist and writer Alasdair Gray and an extended dance work, In the Ink Dark, for choreographer Luke Pell. In 2018 he also scored Make Me Up, the first feature film by multi-media artist Rachel Maclean.
