Project

Youth Arts Consultants

The Youth Arts Consultants (YACs) are young disabled artists trained to improve accessibility in the arts sector through audits, alt-texting, and bespoke consultancy, promoting inclusivity and engagement.

Don’t. Make. Tea. Benefits Debate

A debate on disabled people's experiences with the benefits system was held in April 2022, featuring key panellists discussing societal attitudes and the new Adult Disability Payment in Scotland.

Bolster

Bolster, a collaboration between Birds of Paradise and Bijli Productions, offered disabled artists of color opportunities for creative development, providing funding and a supportive environment to cultivate new ideas.

BOP Young Artists (2021)

Birds of Paradise invited young disabled individuals from mixed heritage backgrounds to join BOP Young Artists 2021, a free program focusing on skill development in performing arts and fostering community connections.

Soñando in Silence

Soñando in Silence, funded by a British Council Unlimited Micro Award, explored theatrical experiences with artists Sofia Olmos from Mexico and Jamie Rea from Scotland, focusing on D/deaf perspectives and audience immersion.
